Partnerships

Collaboration plays an important role in driving innovation and developing practical solutions for dairy farming. Through partnerships with industry organisations, researchers and value chain partners, DeLaval brings together different areas of expertise to address the real challenges farmers face today.

The Milk Sustainability Center (MSC): John Deere and DeLaval

Developed through a joint effort between DeLaval and John Deere, the Milk Sustainability Center brings together crop and animal performance data in one integrated tool. The aim is to help farmers better understand their operations, support sustainability efforts, and respond to increasing requirements related to climate and resource efficiency.

Using the Milk Sustainability Center, dairy farmers can monitor key indicators such as nutrient use efficiency (NUE) and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) across their farm, herd and fields. The platform combines animal and crop data to provide insights that can support more efficient nutrient management and reduce the need for manual data handling.

Farmers can also invite consultants, dealers, veterinarians and other partners to access the platform, enabling collaboration around shared data.

Our university partnerships

DeLaval collaborates with universities around the world to strengthen the link between academic research and practical dairy farming. Through the DeLaval Scientific Committee, we facilitate research contacts, evaluate collaboration proposals and support studies related to innovation, sustainability and animal welfare.

Our partnerships include engineering collaborations with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, as well as long-standing research cooperation with universities such as Cornell University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). These collaborations help ensure that our solutions are informed by research and tested against scientific criteria.

We also work with universities through student engagement initiatives. One example is our collaboration with Rakuno Gakuen University in Japan, where students gain hands-on exposure to dairy technology at DeLaval training centres, supporting learning and knowledge transfer within the industry.
