DeLaval has introduced a new set of sustainability targets to steer its environmental and social impact efforts. Developed through extensive collaboration across all departments, the targets reflect an unified commitment to continuous improvement and measurable progress.
These targets fall under DeLaval’s five focus areas—People, Planet, Animal Welfare, Profitability, and Innovation—known collectively as the clover approach. Each area is supported by specific topics, and the new targets are designed to help drive measurable progress across them. At the centre of this approach is the company’s vision: ‘We make sustainable food production possible.’ This vision guides DeLaval’s priorities and actions. Innovation plays a unique dual role—both as a focus area in its own right and as a key enabler that helps advance the other four.

Maria Collin, Head of Group Sustainability, DeLaval, says: “Our sustainability targets help DeLaval not only to reduce our total emissions but also sends a clear message to suppliers, partners, and customers, that we take sustainability seriously and that we ‘walk the talk.’ I am thrilled that we have made our targets more extensive to cover all aspects of our business. DeLaval has done a great job in the past, but now we are embarking on a journey to become even more sustainable while supporting our customers in running sustainable and profitable businesses.”
- By 2030, DeLaval aims to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 60% and Scope 3 emissions by 30%.
- By 2050, the target is net zero emissions.
- All in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
Additional goals include energy efficiency, circularity, sustainable sourcing, and increased diversity and inclusion.
